I just want to share something I remember from an old Stan Lee interview that I watched when I was a kid. Stan was talking about the original X-Men and he said, “You know what my favorite part was? The way Angel could fold his wings behind his back and wear a harness to hide them.” And he mimed the action as he spoke, using his arms to show how the wings folded.

And I just.

Stan Lee always understood what makes a character great: that no matter how powerful or amazing or brilliant you are, you always want what you can’t have.

When we lose Stan, we’ll lose a guy who understood the human heart better than entire rafts of psychology professors ever could.
