I think the thing that upsets people the most about someone “SUDDENLY BEING BI” is that they have to un-assume a lot of things about people. The most honest, pure reaction any of my friends has ever given me upon learning I’m bi was a friend from work. She had only ever known me to date women, and when I told her about a guy I was sleeping with, she flipped out. 

“I thought of you as my lesbian friend!” she said. “Why did you let me do that if you’re not 100% gay!?”

I said I didn’t understand why she cared. It wasn’t like she, a straight woman (which she had stated unequivocally many times), would ever want to date me, so what did it matter whether I explicitly told her or not?

“Because I thought I knew something but now I DON’T,” she said.

Bisexuality: you think you know something, but now you don’t. 

Think of all the work people will have to if Dean Winchester is revealed to be bisexual! ALL characters could be bi! ALL PEOPLE could be bi! All those files have to be reopened and examined and gone through. What a lot of work to establish without a doubt who someone may or may not go to bed with.

That’s why slash and fandom is so great. It’s the one place where, without any irony, anyone can be thought to have sex with anyone. It’s, crazily enough, one of the most true-to-life attitudes about sexuality that exists: the idea that anytime, anywhere, any person could be desiring sex with both or more or no sexes.
